On April 17-18, O.S. United was down in Iowa City for the Barnstormers Spring Fling. It was a great tournament that took place at the University of Iowa Fieldhouse. Our 15, 16 and 17u teams competed against some of the best teams in the Midwest. Not only did O.S. United do well, they turned a lot of heads in the process. Many scouts were alerted to the talent in the program.
The 16u had a record of 2-2 down in Iowa. In their first game of the weekend they played the Iowa Mavericks. A game they should have won, but eventually fell to the Mavericks by 3 points. In their second game the beat a very talented Wisconsin Swing team. The Swing had a very tall lineup, but the tenacity and team play of O.S. United negated any height advantage.
In their third game of the day, they played the Kansas Run-N-Gun. This game went back and forth the whole way. Both teams played very physical as the officials were not very consistent. O.S. United pulled out a 4 point victory. By far this was the most entertaining game of their weekend, you could really see that O.S. United was a team to be reckoned with the for the rest of the AAU Season. On Sunday they ran into a tough Indiana Elite team. They competed throughout, but couldn't pull out a win. Indiana Elite went on to win the 16 u division.

The 17u team also had a record of 2-2 in Iowa City. Their first game pitted them against the Iowa Mavericks. The game was decided on the offensive end of the court. Both teams having trouble stopping the other.
O.S. United had obvious advantages at the Point and in the Post. This ended up equaling a first round 3 point victory. Their next game was against the Iowa Barnstormers. The Barnstormers had 6 Division 1 recruits on their roster, and O.S. United had a tough time matching up. The Barnstormers went on to a second round victory.
In the first game of Bracket play, O.S. United played the Wisconsin Force.
This game was won on the inside. O.S. United exploited the Force's lack of physical play in the paint. This lead to a 14 point victory. In the Quarterfinals of Bracket play, O.S. United fell to the Wisconsin Spartans.
The Barnstormers went on to beat the Spartans in the Championship game by
13 points.
